The structure of power in West Amina is a bit of an oddity. Their civilization is divided into a number of city-states, each built into the hollows and branches of a vast Evil-Eating Tree. Each of these communities is led by a circle of druids, the eldest of whom is said to commune with the Tree itself. In this way the mortals who look to the tree for shelter can secure new space for the growth of their communities, and likewise do the people learn of the ways in which they may be of assistance to the Tree. This summary does not take into account the belief on the part of the druids with whom I have spoken that the Trees are all connected in some seemingly-profound way, which implies to me a degree of centralization beyond
